Run for Rieke 2019-2020
Join us on Friday, October 4th for our annual Run for Rieke at the Wilson Track! The Rieke Run is one of our main annual fundraising opportunities, and all money raised will go to the Rieke Foundation, managed by The Fund for Portland Public Schools. This money is used to supplement staffing and other needs as determined by Mr. Jeans.
How does it work? Grades K - 3 will run/walk laps from 1:00 to 1:30 pm and grades 3 - 5 will go from 1:45 to 2:15 pm. Pledge forms will be sent home with students this week. Please support your student in asking family, friends, and others in your community to give financial contributions to our school. Pledges can be made by lap or by lump sum. Kids typically run between 5 and 13 laps in the 30 minutes given.
Pledge forms should be returned to school before the run takes place so that each kid’s total laps can be recorded and returned to the students in a timely fashion. This will allow them to collect the pledges and to return the funds raised to school.
We are looking for friends, family, parents, and grandparents to come and cheer on the kids during the event! It’s encouraging to have enthusiastic people cheering from the sidelines as our kids challenge themselves to do their personal best! Some parents, siblings, and families have been known to join in the fun of the run.
We are also looking for volunteers to help track laps and to distribute popsicles at the end of the run. If interested in volunteering or have questions, please email email@example.com.
