Holiday Gift Drive: Help Rieke Families

December 14 update:

Thank You Rieke Families

Thank you to everyone who was able to purchase a gift or food for the Holiday Drive.
The outpouring of generosity has been truly overwhelming and its been amazing to see our community come together to help each other.

In the end we helped make the holidays and winter break a little bit better for 11 families, including 7 moms, 2 dads, and 14 kids. We were able to provide a gift for family members, $200 in gift cards to the Grocery Store of their choice, wrapping paper and two bags of groceries.

At the sorting party about 15 people helped sort and compile the gifts plus fill the grocery bags with food. Thank you to everyone who came today to help!

Happy Holidays!

How do you feel when your child opens a gift then radiates a smile that warms your heart? The feeling is amazing; the memory can last a lifetime. Not every family has this opportunity; not all are so fortunate. But if we come together as a community and extend our warmth and help, it can make the holidays a special time for everyone.

This year we have 8 Rieke families, including 5 moms, 2 dads, 5 boys (ages 7-10 years), and 6 girls (ages 2 to 13 years), who would like some help to brighten their holidays. There are many ways to help!
Buy a gift card.  We want parents to be able to buy clothes in the right size, style and color preference for their children! Grab a tag from the school bulletin board or through our online Holiday Drive tool.
Purchase a gift. Grab a gift tag from the bulletin board in the front hallway or from our online Holiday Drive tool.

Purchase Gift Wrapping Paper. We would like to provide each family with two rolls of holiday gift wrap. Grab a tag or select a Gift Wrap from our online Holiday Drive tool.

Please return unwrapped gifts and gift cards to the office, or bring to the sorting party on Tuesday, December 13. Please include the bulletin board tag or a note indicating the family letter & what the gift is.

Volunteer your time. Sign up for the sorting party (kids welcome!) on Tuesday, December 13. There are two shifts available. One to help sort the gifts and one to help sort the food. There are 10 slots per shift.
Make a food donation. We want every Rieke family to be fed! The Rieke food pantry needs donations of money or non-perishable food items that are kid-friendly and easy for kids to make. See a list of preferred items below.

Most needed food:

  • Canned tuna & chicken
  • Pasta sauce
  • Canned vegetables
  • Syrup
  • Peanut butter
  • Jelly
  • Bisquick & pancake mix
  • Mac & cheese
  • Granola bars
  • Boxed cereal
  • Canned fruit

Questions? Email Melissa Light. We thank you in advance for your generosity in making the holiday season bright for Rieke families in need.
