Principal's Message—Nov. 21

Dear Rieke Families,

We will see kids back on Monday, Nov. 27 and will have three full weeks of school before Winter Break!

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, we will be having our first community wide conversation of how to ensure Rieke is as inclusive a community for our students and families as possible. I welcome everyone to come and join in the conversation as we look at different aspects, especially race, gender identity, and disabilities, that can impact how much a child truly feels a part of this school. If you are unable to come on the 28th, I hope to have this conversation continue throughout the school year. We will be meeting in the gym.

Our first Writer’s Tea of the year will be Thursday, Dec. 7 at 9 am in the library. We have the Tea three times per year and each classroom teacher selects one student to share a piece of their writing and be celebrated by family and partake in cookies and juice. The first two Teas of the year are for students in grades 1-5 and we add our Kindergarteners for the May Tea.

I am truly thankful to be part of such a great, caring community! I feel so fortunate to have been given this opportunity to be here. I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving, filled with enjoyable time with family and friends.

Happy Thanksgiving!
