Principal's Message, October 15

Dear Rieke Families,

This week we have started the Children’s Book Harvest. We have both Rieke parents and Wilson students help coordinate this drive to collect books to donate to children in need. For the next two weeks each class will be collecting new or gently used books appropriate for babies, toddlers, and early elementary students through grade three. Children’s Book Harvest provides a list of desired books: https://www.childrensbookbank.org

I know many parents of 3-5th graders are wondering about whether there will be Oregon Battle of the Books competition for Rieke students this year. This event is coordinated by a parent or parents. The school will get a team registered for Rieke and we’ve ordered the list of books to have ready for readers in our library but we’re hoping there are some parents out there who would like to take the lead in helping coordinate everything.

Please keep checking the Lost and Found if you happen to be at school. We made a pretty good dent in it a few weeks ago but with our cold then warm weather it has refilled to overflowing!

Enjoy this lovely sunny weather!
