Looking for a Few Good Readers!

The Rieke Reading Buddy Program is designed to help K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students improve their literacy skills by giving them the opportunity to read aloud, one-on-one, to an adult volunteer. Volunteers model the joy of reading, while supporting the child's efforts to read independently.

The Rieke Reading Buddy Program is seeking volunteers! This is the perfect opportunity for parents, grandparents, and neighbors. The time commitment is 30 minutes per week, and we can use volunteers at the following times:

  • Start of the school day: 8:45-9:15

  • Right after lunch: 12:15-12:45

  • End of the school day: 2:30-3:00

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Melissa Light at lightfamily.or@gmail.com and let her know the days and times you are available.

Did you know you could raise money for Rieke just by shopping? Below are three easy ways to make a difference with your dollars.

Go to www.smile.amazon.com. Log in to your account and select Mary Rieke PTA as your charity. After you’ve done this, make all your Amazon purchases through www.smile.amazon.com, and 0.5% of your purchases will be donated to the PTA.

Link your Fred Meyer Rewards card to Mary Rieke PTA. Go to fredmeyer.com/communityrewards to learn. You can find the Mary Rieke PTA by our NPO number, 84772. You will still receive reward points, fuel points, and rebates, but your purchases will also help Rieke.

Box Tops are found on a variety of items that you buy at the grocery store—butter, dryer sheets, cereal, and more. Please look for brands that have Box Tops somewhere on the packaging. Cut out the Box Top portion of the packaging, making sure to not cut off the expiration date or value, and give them to your child's teacher. Find participating Box Tops products.
