Principal's Message—September 4

Dear Rieke Families,

The start to our second week went smoothly and it was wonderful welcoming our Kindergartners.

If you haven’t done so, please be sure to return the Student Verification form and the Walking Field Trip permission form to the office. It’s critical we have the most up to date information for your child in case of any type of emergency.

September is one of our busiest months event-wise. This Friday our PTA is sponsoring our Back to School Picnic. It will be from 5:30-7:30 and there will be food for purchase, as well as you are welcome to bring your own picnic. It’s usually a great turn out and a nice way to meet other families with the same age students.

Our Back to School Night is on Sept. 13 from 6-8 pm. This is your opportunity to hear from your child’s teacher about his or her program and the plan for the school year. It will also be an chance for you to sign up for a Parent Teacher conference time that will be taking place Nov. 19 and 20th. We are not able to offer childcare since it is our largest parent attended event and we have no available space. It is very much an adult oriented evening. Students can come but the information is geared for parents and guardians.

Order forms have gone home for Picture Day on Sept. 14. All students will get their picture taken because it’s a safety measure that their picture is entered into our Student Information System. If you need a new order form we have extras in the office.

One of our biggest fund raisers is our Run for Rieke. We have moved it to Sept this year and it will be taking place on Friday, Sept. 28. It’s a whole school event with all students running (or walking) as many laps as possible around the Wilson High School track in 30 minutes. Grades K-2 will run from 1:30-2 and grades 3-5 will run from 2:10-2:40. Watch for pledge sheets to be coming home in the next couple of weeks. All of the money raised goes to the All Hands Raised Foundation which Rieke then uses for additional staffing support.

Enjoy the week!

Sarah
