Principal's Message

The Johnny Cheddars, a team of our 5th grade boys, won last Saturday’s regional competition for the Oregon Battle of the Books and will move on to the state level competition which is awesome, way to go!!

We are having a high number of students who are out sick. It is probably a good idea to remind your child to use good hand washing techniques along with cough-and-sneeze-etiquette to prevent the further spread of illness. If your child has a fever, he or she should not return to school until 24 hours have passed symptom-free, without the use of fever-reducing medication. I’ve attached a letter from the Multnomah County Health Department with some tips on ways to keep healthy.

I have attached next year’s PPS calendar for the 2019-2020 school year. There are no major changes so it will look fairly similar to this year’s calendar. We still have not heard about whether students will need to make up the two snow days from last month.

It looks like perhaps we will finally be able to enjoy some warmer weather which will be very welcome!

I wanted to share how proud I was of the whole school coming together last Friday afternoon. One of our students lost a very expensive, critical piece of technology she requires throughout the day. Almost every student and many staff all were totally committed to helping try to find it, searching every inch of the playground, the bathroom and various other parts of the building. It was wonderful to see. And, we were successful in finding it which was a huge relief.
