Principal's Message, May 6

Happy May even though it looks like it’s going to feel more like July this week!

Love all the kids participating in Walk, Bike, or Roll. Next Monday, May 13th all of our morning buses will drop students at Wilson so they can get the “walk” to school experience. We’ll have staff on duty where the buses will be dropping off (right by Wilson’s main entrance) as well as parent volunteers stationed along the sidewalk to make sure everyone gets down the hill to school safely.

I have attached a parent input form ( Confidential Placement Form 2019-2020.doc  ) so you have the opportunity to share the kind of learning environment you child does well in. The teachers in each grade level work together to make the class lists for next year. There will not be very much flexibility since we are moving to only two teachers at all grades with the exception of three at 3rd grade. This form is not to request a specific teacher. It is very helpful, however, for you to share if there are other students who your child would do well having a break from being in the same class. If you choose to complete the form please return it to the office or send me an email by Friday, May 17.

Remember no school this Wednesday due to the statewide day of action for school funding. We’re back on schedule on Thursday.

Next week is the Scholastic Bookfair. Thank you to Jenn McDonald for coordinating this event. The Bookfair will be open during our Art Night on May 16th.

We are also welcoming next year’s kindergartners at an Open House on Wednesday the 15th. We could really use more kindergartners as our enrollment numbers are VERY low. You can help by spreading the word to neighbors and friends of anyone with a child turning 5 years old on or before September 1 that they can register now for next year.

It was a lovely start to the week with all the flowers that arrived for teachers! Thank you PTA for this.
