Principal's Message, September 13

Dear Rieke Rocket families,

What a wonderful picture day we have had! It is always interesting to see the children in their unique picture day styles and smiles. In case you missed it today, or in the end want pictures redone, our retake date is October 22nd. We will do class photos that day as well.

We hope to see you tonight at the Rieke family picnic! This fun annual community event starts at 5:30 pm and runs until 7:30 pm. Come say hi to friends young and old, watch the kids play together, and bring a picnic to share. I will be here, please say hello and introduce yourself.

Next Thursday evening, 9/19, is our Back to School Night. It starts at 6:30 pm. Prior to 6:30 pm start I will host a TAG and ELD information night in the cafeteria from 6:00 pm-6:30 pm where I will share the district and building plans for these embedded educational programs. At 6:30 pm I will start the Back to School event with introductions of our stellar staff and give a brief state of the school presentation. The evening’s events are for parents, not students. We realize this can be burden but believe it provides us a better environment to clearly communicate the learning taking place in our Rieke Way classrooms.

The Run for Rieke is coming soon, October 4th on the Wilson track. Details and fundraising forms will be coming home soon.

We welcome volunteers! If you have time to help in classrooms, library, at lunch recess, or in the office let us know. One specific need would be for someone to help answer phones around 1:00 pm -1:30 pm while Lynda takes her well-deserved lunch break! I plan on offering a classroom volunteer training soon to offer strategies for helping students with literacy and math work. In addition, our Green Team is growing and developing. I am still seeking two lunch EA’s to join the team, so if you have some time during the middle of the day to work with us, please let the office know.

Cheers!  Jon Jeans, Principal
