Principal's Message, September 9

Dear families of Rieke Rockets,

Thank you again for all your support and enthusiasm in starting our year so well! It is joyous to work here with such wonderful staff and families. Truly.

We continue to develop our Rieke website to include more information about our staff, updated calendar, and resources for families, students and families. Please use the website and we welcome any feedback/suggestions for improvement.

This Friday 9/13 is school picture day for students. Please return completed forms and any forms of payment to your student’s teacher, not the office. We have scheduled class photos and individual photo retake day for October 22.

We are always looking for volunteers at lunch recess. What a fun time to contribute and be part of the social learning of our students! We have other volunteer needs that be accessed through the Rieke PTA website.

Our back to school night is Thursday, September 19th from 6:30-8:00. In addition we will present a TAG and ELD information night in the cafeteria from 6:00-6:30 before the Back to School Night event begins. We hope everyone can join us to hear more about the exciting things happening in our classrooms.

The PTA and I all hope you can make it this Friday night to the Rieke Family Picnic! Here are details shared by the PTA in their weekly newsletter The Rapper.

The Back-to-School Picnic is this Friday!
Join us for the celebration!

The annual picnic is an excellent opportunity to reconnect with old friends, make new friends, and learn more about the Rieke school community.

The Details

  • Date: Friday, September 13th

  • Time: 5:30 pm – 8:00

  • Place: Rieke playground

We’ll have tables set up by grade, and additional activities include art stations, music, and some science activities for kids. We will also be selling spirit wear.

You can pack your own picnic dinner, or you can grab food at the event. This year we’ll have pizza, salad, drinks, and popsicles.
The PTA depends on support to fund our community activities. In order to make this year’s picnic accessible to everyone, we are trying something new. Instead of charging for food, we are asking families to consider making a $10 donation per person. You can do so at the picnic, either through cash, check, credit card, or Venmo. If you can donate more, please do! If you have to donate less or can’t donate at all, that’s okay too!

The picnic is much more than a fundraiser, it’s a chance for us all to come together as a community and celebrate the launch of another great school year.

If you have any questions, please email

I look forward to seeing everyone at this great community building event! Cheers!
