Rieke Read-a-thon

  • Mary Rieke PTA 1405 Southwest Vermont Street Portland, OR, 97219 United States (map)

What is a Read-a-thon? A Read-a-thon is a fun and easy week-long event to promote literacy and to raise important funds to help keep Specials like Library, Art, and Technology full time at Rieke.

When is it? May 20-24. But you can register, set up your personal page, and start collecting donations anytime before May 20.

How does it work? Students go on to the Read-a-thon website to register (specifics below) and set up their own personal page. From there, they can track their reading, share their progress with friends, family, and neighbors, and encourage them to make a donation. While donations are not required to participate, we hope families will donate and will ask others to as well, so we can fund the critical programs we love at Rieke - our Specials!

Why should we participate? It’s a chance to celebrate and encourage reading. It’s fun and easy and there are great prizes! All students who register on the site will get a Rieke Read-a- thon bookmark. Students who reach their reading goal will get a Rieke water bottle sticker. And the student who reads the most in each grade will get a gift certificate to Annie Blooms Books. Most importantly, donations made to the Read-a-thon will help fund our amazing Specials - Library, Technology and Art. We strongly encourage families to donate and share with others. Every dollar counts!

How do we register? To add your child as a participant, please follow these 3 easy steps:

1. Go to this link -

2. Enter your child’s name, enter your email(s), and select their group.

3. Click “Add” > this will take you to your newly created pledge page!
