Volunteering is a powerful way to show our students you value their education and to get a unique glimpse into their world.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are countless ways to get involved and support our school! You can start right away by signing up for two of our ongoing roles: Lunchtime Support or the Reading Buddy program using the links below.

Lunchtime Support
Be a Lunchtime Hero: Join Us for Cafeteria Support!
Rieke relies on parent & community volunteers to make sure teachers get a lunch break each day. Shifts are just 45 min per day and you’ll help in the lunch room or out on the playground. On Thursdays and Fridays, there’s a second option to support students in the ROC during lunch.
What you’ll do:
Engaging students in friendly, positive conversation
Assisting with opening milk cartons and yogurts
Monitoring the compost station and keeping noise levels comfortable
Helping classes transition smoothly to and from the playground
Important: Please complete your PPS volunteer background check before volunteering.
Reading Buddy Program
The Rieke Reading Buddy Program pairs community members and parents with students to read together once a week for about 15 minutes. It’s a fantastic way to make a meaningful connection with a child while sharing a love of reading.
Program Details:
Volunteers meet with students once a week for about 15 minutes (but are welcome for more!).
Times are flexible but typically fall around the following times:
Start of the school day: 8:00 - 8:15am
Right after lunch: 11:30 - 12:20pm
End of the school day: 2:00 - 2:30pm

Art Class Volunteering
